If you have ever advertised and marketed online, you have noticed that every click-through is not worth the price paid for it. Many potentially interested web surfers often only stay on your web property 2 to 5 seconds, and it is very difficult to inform potential buyers of the attributes of your products in that small window of time. In the past companies have sought to over come this problem by various methods such as, creating flashy websites, placing crucial information at the top of the page and purchasing larger numbers of ads to play the numbers game. The only problem is as time has progressed these have all been saturated concepts. These days, flashy websites are a dime a dozen, visitors scan web pages, zipping right past well placed, crucial information and buying large numbers of ads is expensive. Everyone is purchasing as many ads as they can afford. This intense jockeying for advertisement position has resulted in higher ad prices due to supply and demand and the subsequent raising of the barrier to quality advertising for small business owners.
Advertising, advertising, advertising, that is what grows a small business into a large business. Most small business owners find that they can not advertise in high traffic areas because the cost to do so is just too high.
Businesses that can afford the high cost of advertising online are usually better established firms. So, it is not uncommon for business owners to have a large dream held back by financial inequality.
Face it. Careful planning only gets you so far. Then you need money. The wall of “how do I get heard” appears taller than ever. Sure, small business owners can advertise on the same websites as big business, but it is a grim reality that the more money you have the better you can acquire premium advertising spots. Smaller businesses are pushed to areas that receive significantly less traffic. This makes for a disheartening reality check as small business owners realize that big money accounts get the prestige and carefully sought after notoriety. Even with pay per click, search engine marketing, the small business person quickly discovers that major keywords are beyond their reach.. If they advertise on a particular high traffic word their ad will appear several pages beyond the depth most searchers are willing to dig. You see, when searchers use search engines they typically look for their interests on result pages 1 – 5 maybe 1-7, If they don’t find what they are looking for, they usually try a different keyword search to locate what they are looking for. If your ad is on page 8 or 25 for that matter, your ad does not get seen. This is why conventional advertising does not work very well for small business.
Since the small business can’t out bank roll the larger firms, they must out maneuver them. They must be willing to do more, not spend more while focusing on the quality of visitors as well as the quantity. I mean, making each visitor count in some form or fashion. A new advertising method, called error marketing (www. errormarketing.com) prepares the visitor to stay on your web property longer, before the visitor actually arrives on the site., thus removing the advertising barrier for small businesses. Error marketing is placing small budget marketers on an even playing field with big business.
The “how to advertise” hurdle is one that has confused many would-be CEOs. Your product won’t sell if no one knows about it and its features.
We know that the ability to gain large-scale advertising can make a product successful but the cost of gaining that large amount of exposure can be enormous. A new advertising website TypoBounty.com is breaking down the barriers to small business advertising.
TypoBounty.com allows small businesses to offer bounties or small cash rewards for any errors that can be found on their website. Searchers come to the website looking for errors, reading the entire website. The visitor catches the full impact of your sells pitch and helps improve your sells pitch. This greatly increases the potential that they will purchase your product. Small businesses gain a visitor that is very attentive to the offer, and will read more of your offer. After all of your website’s errors are found and eliminated, the small business still receives massive amounts of traffic from visitors looking for errors.
If errors are found, owners pay the visitor a nominal fee for reporting it. In return, the owner gains massive amounts of traffic, from individuals that stay on their website longer catching the full impact of their sells pitch. The visitors are willing to read more of the site’s content, thus presenting the marketer a greater opportunity to sell. A side benefit is visitors learn enough about products to tell friends. With TypoBounty.com, the advertising is cheap, plentiful, expandable and helpful in making the small businesses grow.
“I was a little discouraged at first.” Says David Anderson, “ I just couldn’t find a way to break through the advertising ceiling. But since error marketing began, that ceiling has been blown apart. People dig TypoBopunty.com with such commitment my ad has a better chance of being seen often. Of course, it is best to be on top but even the bottom ads benefit. To find errors on my website, visitors must catch the full impact of my sells pitch. I like that.” Visitors dig deep into the site for opportunities to earn money for finding errors. So it matters very little where an ad appears, it can still receive massive amounts of traffic. Visitors to the small business’s websites bring with them bulging online money accounts filled with disposable cash. If they want the company’s product, they can buy it.
In a small business, every dollar matters. So, investing large amounts of money in advertising techniques that only result in 2 second visits to one’s website is very counter productive. Using the error marketing technique, increases the stickiness of the advertiser’s website. Visitors don’t just click over and click back. They stay. With more people knowing substantially more about a product and its benefits comes the increase likelihood of a purchase, referrals and residual word of mouth advertising.

This booklet helps business owners increase sales, increase time, and allow technology do a lot of mundane tasks. So this quick 7 step list is a simple strategy with helpful tools that will get your business online and building revenue. It is a simple walkthrough and process that gets your business moving in the right direction of collecting monthly income every month and automating much of the sale process lowering overhead and headaches. By inserting these ideas into your business you will gain more income without having to invest more of your time.
You will see significant results that will create sales and leads automatically, which are huge building blocks in your business. The most important concept you should understand is all 7 steps are investments in you, your business, and your financial freedom. The steps take a bit of focus, but after the initial start you will have great methods to build revenue for your business on the web.
Step 1 Insert your site into FREE directories
First Step is get a web site, if you do not have one do look on the web for a web design company near you or somone wh that will identify the exact needs and benefits your web site can offer your business.
I cannot stress enough how important for you in becoming a successful business to get a powerful website to inform, drive sales, and offer unique tools and problem solving for clients in your industry. Not only should you get a website you must have powerful pages set in place for certain products. Also create web pages that will be optimized to collect leads and not only sales as the sales process might be lengthier depending on your products and services. For example, one simple design technique we use is images next to your popular products, people are more often going to look at text that is put next to an image, this image can be a person's face as more people will look at a person's face. In that text will be your informative selling information. Most importantly make sure your important web content is above the fold of your site. The fold of your site is the area above the screen that is cut off on your monitor when viewing a web site. From there always give them a call to action, if your business is booking appointments, create a button to book appointments that is very visible so visitors do not have to stress on what you want them to do. We will explain this a bit more in step 7.
When looking for a web design just make sure they know how to optimize your site for the search engines so you do spend additional money in design fees and then when you are ready to market your business spending more time for another search engine optimization company to maximize and delaying your underlying goal of your business.
Search Engine Optimization is a technique to build a presence in the web and create powerful multi stream revenue's. Search Engine Optimization is the process of promoting your web site through some of the technique in the booklet and other more technical ways using research on the web and special search engine techniques. For now these steps are what most Search Engine Optimizers do to get a website off the ground.
As for the designer make sure they ask you what is your web site for, what do you want your web site to do. You being a business owner should also know what you want from your website. There have been numerous times when people are not exactly sure of what they want their website to accomplish. Knowing the goal will allow you to accomplish it much more effectively and be able to communicate it. Ask yourself questions... The power of questions
Now if you have a web site, either you are updating it or have a web designer you should first go to all the free directories listed and insert your site. Directories are just like search engines but a bit smaller. Directories are tons of listing for websites in certain categories depending on the directories preference. For example going to www.TrueLocal.com you will see a directory list. This one is not free but inserting your site into these type of directories will give you inbound links from some big traffic sites. So in turn it is like putting your business on a busy street, it will give you more Page Rank in major search engines. Below you will find a list of FREE search engine listings and directories that I would recommend submitting your site to. By doing the following you are increasing your odds of becoming a more popular site on the web.
If you have a bit of capital and are willing to invest some cash into your business advertising, you would gain a great benefit inserting your site into a new niche market of directories. A big secret I have discovered in web marketing by working with google, yahoo, and other search engine marketers in Silicon Valley is local search. At the annual SES convention in San Jose, Google and Yahoo's CEO's and engineers addressed the importance of local marketing. This addresses some new techniques that the search engines will be focusing on which in turn will be beneficial for your web site to be a part of before it gets to crowded, I will also display a list of links for local listing some you have to pay and others that are free.
You can also look into inserting into paid directories and search engines. The paid directories are highly trafficked web sites that will give your business an outside link to visit your web site. An outside link from another highly trafficked site other than yours will give you better page rank in the major search engines. But before investing I stress you research and assure yourself that your website can take advantage of selling and informing your major products or services by having landing pages to build leads and some visible call to action areas. Rather than using capital and misusing your funds, you have great product and service pages that convert you're your visitors into sales. I will get into a bit more detail later in these steps.
Step 2 - Create a company and or a personal Blog (Offer your workers to write a blog that pertains ideas to your business)
What is a blog? A blog is a new way for individuals to express themselves. Now there are free blogs, which are very easy to create and get your business ideas out in the World Wide Web. The Blogging idea is great because it is a great way to add content and build an informative area to your site. You can update and freely advertise your products online with links back to your business site. Since you will be a specialist in your business or in the process of becoming one by writing the published blogs, you give the opportunity for others to read about what you know and how what you offer them can add benefit in their lives. One example I set up for my clients was an inspector; you or a content writer can add articles about your special services you offer, even helpful tips that may add some value to your customers. By adding significant content to your web sites you are creating better reasons for visitors to visit your site and in turn better chances for people to link to your site and view you as a specialist. People will link to your site because of its informative content and that will be the biggest result of reaching the top of search engines. So get started and write informative blogs about you or your business. This is free marketing and should be taken advantage. Below is a list of blogging sites in which you can use for free. Remember when writing Blogs write naturally of course but insert keywords you think your customers might use. This way when searching for those keywords search engines will rank your blog site higher and you will have links back to your websites more important product and service pages (Landing Pages).
Step 3 - Get involved into your online industry Forums
Forums are now called groups, they are basically meeting areas where you contribute and post solutions and ideas for other members. Forums at times have over 1,000's of members that will view your posting. Try not to market and be a bit more informative. Below is a way to market your self indiscreetly.
Read the forums post some comments and be helpful. You should always leave links back to your site below your name. This will help others see your comments and have a quick link to your web site.
Not only writing content is important but viewing forums that are related to your industry. There are usually tons of customers waiting to be served in forums. Try not to market your business, but add value to the forum and of course adding a link to your website. A really great secret for some secret advertising is when signing up for an account, for your user name add your web site url, if possible. Everyone will see your contribution and your website url will be the way of identifying yourself. Free marketing and a great way to become a specialist in your industry, adding helpful content and giving viewers a way to read more about what your business is about.
Step 4 - Write Transcripts and Articles for Visitors to download
Educate and give your customers a wonderful experience when visiting your business website. Have a free informative "white paper" to download. You may let them download the white paper without taking some of their information or you may want to receive their contact information. If you do decide to have them fill in the online form, make sure you make it very easy and short. No visitors want to fill in long forms. I recommend a Full Name box and email to start, unless you absolutely need the other information for your sales force. Depending on the information, if it is valuable you may want to sell the information. This can also be done using simple check out button on your site that when clicked will take you users to a secure page. From there they pay and the money goes directly to your business account. A very nice way to add some monthly revenue and build customer rapport opening up future up selling. Most people will buy information before buying a service, and this can be a great value to a revenue stream for your business.
Step 5 - Pictures tell a thousand words
As of now search engines are finding new ways to search all types of data including media. Yahoo has actually created a free service, which they allow you to upload pictures that describe your own personal life. These pictures can be viewed and searched by thousands with descriptions under the image. The system by yahoo is called Flickr and is an image uploading system for everyone to view and comment on your images. It is a great tool to show your services and products. So if you are running a business in which pictures would benefit, put them on the web using a web site like Flickr and write content that describes the images or media.
Flikr is another free marketing for your site and your products and services. Some of my clients have received overwhelming benefits to their postings from this simple task alone. The logic behind this is if you are inserting your photos on such a popular high trafficked site and have a link back to your business site or blog, this creates a lot of trust for the search engines and opens opportunities for web surfers to view your business pictures. This helps page ranking for your site depending on your market and keyword competition. So get your pictures uploaded, your services, and other images that would add benefit to your customers and show the world on Flikr.
Step 6 - Research and Interact with your market; Find the Niche
When having your business it is important to set yourself as the most knowledgeable company people can turn to when seeking your goods and services. The best method is getting involved in your industry and offering services that will solve the person's problem or give a unique product at a good price. As you interact with your community you will start hearing problems many of the businesses or individuals are having. Try to find way in which doing the services you enjoy which you can help them, if there are some things that might not be as knowledgeable or do not wish to do them find a person to help you and pay them or work with them to get that project done. You will be well on your way to entrepreneurship.
In order to research to find your niche, you should turn to the web and start to be a person who contributes to the group, before you know it if you offer some decent advice people will start visiting your website and even receive some calls. Write some great articles and help guides that can be downloaded off your website. People who want to be successful will read as much as they can, and if they read your documents and articles this a great step to building a new business relationship or consumer to business relationship. If you are building a new niche product, can be a variation of the products or services you are already selling. For example, maybe a written document about your services that can be sold or given to new clients. This really helps your new customers build rapport with you and your company. So get out there and think outside of the box and find solutions to your customer problems.
Step 7 - Your Marketing Monopoly - Print and Media Ads to your Landing Pages
What are Landing Pages? Landing pages are a descriptive page that you wish your visitors to go to in which informs your product or service and has a BIG call to action visible on the page. The big call to action could be a huge button, graphic, or special you are running. Showing your visitors is the best technique to build leads and sales.
In business all the companies who want to make the best of their marketing budgets about web marketing spend thousands on creating powerful landing pages. As of today, more and more businesses are investing thousands in bringing new visitors into a powerful landing page, giving them great content to read about, and a free download or great offer to call them to action and follow up system.
When marketing on print ads, flyers, and media for a service or product give them your website to always bring them to your web site landing pages. Your landing pages are a descriptive page in which informs your product or service and has a BIG call to action visible on the page. So you have a way build that lead or sale. Your ad should have your website and then a direct way for the reader to go to that product or service page. So http://www.yoursite.com/yourproduct.html can be the link you could use on the ad. If you are doing an ad for the company in general then use your domain name with out the product or service page. From marketing on the Internet I have found people want direct information and want that information quickly. So when your ad goes out on print. People see the ad with a direct link to the product they will know they won't have to search for that ad on the site, saving them time and encouraging them to read more about the product. The system you wish to use is entirely up to you.
When putting money into marketing you will want to track that marketing print ad. I recommend you have a web site system in which allows you to have visitors enter in their information and some type of marketing code. The marketing code could be a phrase for visitors to enter in the field of the web page to receive a promotion or free article. This is a great system to build some great target leads for your business and find out what's working in your print ads.
As for print ads web marketing tracking your leads and visitors web navigation is easier to research. You literally can track how your visitors can view each page, where they go, and how long they spend on each page. So I have setup ads with print ads but more importantly is introducing pay per click ads on the Internet. Pay per click ads are becoming very popular and are great ways to build revenue. I know this first hand with clients and first found it out when I talked to big corporations who are dropping thousands a month to get those web surfers who are a least bit interested in their product or service. Pay Per Click ads are another great way to research and track your visitors so you can gain more information on prospects buying decisions. You also will want to track which keywords are being used for those click ads and start converting those keywords into your web site.
These are some quick steps to getting your business on the Internet. This is also a proven way to get an edge in your industry. I believe you need to reach everyone you can in all forms of media. Using the World Wide Web is what I have set up for all my clients that have brought tremendous success for them. What has really helped my customers understand the concept is the cost of the advertising on the web. No other place can you literally find targeted markets, automate your sales, and build leads for your business in one powerful system. Our customers have found new ways to make cash building techniques that gives more security to their every day cash flow. So get your products and services on the web, offer great value to your customers, and put it on the World Wide Web. Let everyone see it, never has there been a tool that has no limitation for a business to grow. The Internet is that tool and I highly recommend you start taking advantage of it right away.

Marketing Your Small Business Online - Get Traffic Or Die
In today's wired world, it is absolutely necessary to have a strong online presence. Having a good website for your business is imperative if you want to conduct business in today's digital market place. However marketing that business is something all together different, what is the point of a great web site with awesome products if no one ever visits? Just like the real world, the key to success on the web is: Location, Location, Location! If your site can't be found in search results, you wasted your money.
Properly marketing your small business online will bring a steady stream of traffic interested in your products or services. You will never reach your online business goals without good search engine marketing. The best online marketing will put your website's name and description in front of millions of potential customers, for everything to do with your business and offerings. The name of the game in internet marketing is Relevant TRAFFIC. To accomplish this, you need to encourage people looking for your offerings or that of your competition to visit your website, and make it easy for them to find and get what they want. There are a number of ways to market your small business online, some are good, some are not. What works for one company may not work for yours.
The biggest debate in online marketing is whether to use Organic SEO or Pay Per Click advertising (Also referred to as PPC marketing). While pay per click advertising can be effective and useful in the short term, it is also a very risky way to market your website. Pay per click advertising is exactly what it sounds like, you pay every time someone clicks your ad taking them to your site. PPC is a good way to get your ad in front of search engine visitors if your site is not in the top 10 of organic search results. (Called SERPS by search engine marketing professionals). Unfortunately PPC is also fraught with click fraud, large monthly budgets, and a constant battle to carefully watch your ROI and traffic conversion rates.
The best way to market your business online is called Organic Search Engine Optimization. Organic Seo is the art and science of making your site naturally attractive to search engines. The goal is to attain top 10 organic search results when someone searches a phrase related to your site or product in a search engine. The advantage of Organic Search Engine Optimization over pay per click advertising, is that although you may pay for the initial optimization and some monthly maintenance, from there on out, the traffic brought from search engines is free. Organic traffic is also proven to convert much better than PPC traffic, because in general your site is more relevant to their search query. Organic Search Engine Optimization is proven to be more successful, and less costly over the long run. With pay per click, when you stop paying, your traffic stops clicking, and your site traffic dries up immediately. With quality organic SEO, the free traffic increases over time, while your costs go down and conversions go up.
If you're in it for the long haul, organic seo is the best choice. Selecting a good organic seo company is your next critical choice, fortunately Google makes this easy. All you need to do is search Google for "Organic Seo USA," "Seo Quote" or "Guaranteed Seo" and Google will tell you who is the best seo company, by virtue of the fact that the best seo companies are on top of the engines for these phrases. For those on a tighter budget try searching "Affordable Seo Results." Once you find an seo company you are interested in, ask to see their clients search results, the proof is in the results. If they can't put themselves or their clients on top, why would you think they can do it for you.

How To Get Free TV Advertising
Here's a Marketing WOW! idea.
The most costly form of advertising is TV. No other advertising effort comes close! So, negotiate with independent TV and cable channels to get your business on TV for FREE! Here is how.
Sponsor an event that has the attention of the media or can easily get the attention of the media. Choose the event especially if this event is running frequent TV ads. For example: In Atlanta, the V103 "For Sisters Only" event, sponsored by the radio station, brings out thousands. Not only, is it covered by the radio station, it get local news and TV coverage as well.
You can sponsor in many ways:
1.You can donate gifts that can be used as prizes.
2.You can contribute your company's expertise such as artwork
3.You can provide human resources, bodies to staff
4.You can give money
By donating or sponsoring, your company's logo and name appears on all printed advertising and in all TV promotions.
In 2004, my very small business sponsored a wedding featured on ABC's "PrimeTime with Diane Sawyer". I gave the bride and groom a unique gift from our inventory. Many others participated in the event to complete the entire wedding. Nonetheless, this was surely the least expensive advertising I did that year to get such a bang for our buck!
This is a fantastic way to show your company's logo and/ or name to a large number of people.
Make sure to go all out to leave a lasting impression and memory on the viewers or you have wasted FREE TV advertising time.

Magazine Advertising - Are You About To Throw Your Money Away?
One of the first marketing mistakes I made was buying print ad space in about three magazines. Can I recall one sale that I achieved through those ads? Not one. I don't think that I am the first or last person to make this mistake. In general, magazine advertising does not work for a small business. Here are a few do's and don'ts to consider before you decide whether to jump in.
Don't decide to advertise because of your competitors - You think you need to advertise in a magazine because your competitors have been running ads for months or maybe even years. When the salesperson calls, they tell you "we have x number of companies signed up so it must be working for them". How many people fell for that line? Your competitors might be throwing money away on this advertising. Just because they aren't making the most of their marketing budget, doesn't mean you have to follow suit.
Don't listen to the salesperson - Remember their job is to make the sale. Your job is to make the best decision for your business.
Don't sign up for a long series of insertions - Often times, you might be told that you need at least six insertions to get really noticed by the readers of the magazine. Having a six or twelve month commitment with an ad is an expense you do not need. Ads may be good for branding but we small businesses often do not have the luxury budget for branding. We need results.
Don't lose sight of your ROI - Magazine ads can be difficult to track. Even if you use a code on the ad, you might discover that a client noticed your ad but only made contact three or four months later. The code on your ad might have expired by then or it completely slipped their minds. This makes determining the return on the ad spend very difficult to determine.
If you still want to pursue magazine advertising, do commit to a short run of insertions. Refuse to pay the full rate-card price. In fact, tell them you are only interested in last minute space. When they are desperate to fill the page with paid ads, you might pay a quarter of the rate card.
Do pay attention to your results - If the ads are not working, stop them.
Of course, this does not apply for every small business in every market. The important message is you must think very carefully about how you will track your results and whether your money might be better spent on other forms of marketing.

Four Free Advertising Resources For Small Business
One of the most difficult aspects of operating a small business is attempting to decrease your customer acquisition costs to improve profits and in many cases high acquisition costs are what prevent the business from being profitable at all. Most small businesses do not keep track of acquisition statistics so they are unsure of how much it costs for them to acquire each new customer. Without knowing this statistic, it is impossible to truly measure the effectiveness of your advertising and marketing.
One of the ways to help reduce acquisition costs is to use free advertising resources to increase your customer base. With these resources the primary cost is time, which for advertising is a relatively low price. Here are a few resources that small businesses should be taking advantage of to grow their customer base as it will definitely give you a competitive edge over your competition:
Craigslist - Craigslist.com is an online classified website that is free to post listings. Craigslists is one of the top 10 visited websites in the United States and can drive a tremendous amount of traffic to your business. Craigslist has a services section where local businesses can list the products and services that they offer for potential customers. Craigslist is organized by local geographies, therefore you have the potential to drive very local customers to your business. Total time to post an ad on Craigslist is probably about five minutes and will be less once you get the hang of it.
Google Base - Google Base is a free online classified that benefits from the large amounts of traffic generated by Google.com. A simple listing on Google Base can help to drive traffic to your website and although Google claims that it does not make a difference, it is a good bet that the more activity you have on the web properties, the better you will rank in their primary search engine.
Press Releases - The days of needing to be a professional writer to submit a press release are long gone. Now anyone that has knowledge of a product or service should submit press releases to media outlets and can be done easily with free resources. A couple of the sites that I recommend are prleap.com and prfree.com, but there are many others. These services submit your articles to the Associated Press which in many cases will be a distribution of 40,000 subscribers. If only a fraction of the subscribers pick up your article, you benefit. It first establishes you as an authority on the subject matter, but it also generates links back to your website which will increase your search engine rankings. The benefits of these free services can be massive in reducing your customer acquisition costs.
Merchant Circle - Merchantcircle.com is an online business directory that is focused on offering small business websites to promote their business. The main benefit of their service in my opinion is that their pages rank highly in the search engines, therefore, increase the ranking of your website in your local geographic ares. To set up you page only takes about ten minutes.
These are just a few examples of free resources that your business should be using. Think out of the box and do a little research to find out other free resources that will benefit your business. With only one new customer, this form of advertising pays for itself.
